Marshal you want to follow their stick without committing yourself completely to the first fake. You don’t want to lunge your stick at theirs either. You want to act almost like a mirror. Just know that when that first fake comes you don’t want to sell out completely, follow their stick with yours, but be prepared to recover and move the shot after that first fake.
Keep in mind too, that while a good save percentage for a lacrosse goalie is about 60%, shots like these are very high-percentage for the shooter. If you get 2 out of ten, or 4 out of ten. You’re doing ok. So don’t get upset about letting too many of these in, but talk to your coach about what you guys can do as a defensive unit to not give up so many of those shots.
