This DVD was supposed to be titled, “Lacrosse Goalie Communication: Everything you need to know about calling the ball, talking to your defense, and other communication tips.”
But my graphics guy titled it “Calling the Ball.” Which I thought was kinda cool but it really needs some more description.
I get asked by a lot of goalies, “Hey, I’m new, and I know I’m supposed to yell out where the ball is and stuff and talk to my defense, but I don’t know if I’m doing it right. Can you help me.”
Well yes, I can. And this DVD explains all of that. From calling the position of the ball on the field to how to talk to your defense in all sorts of situations on the field, this DVD is for you.
As a goalie, one of the ways you can make a lot of saves, is by earning the respect of your defense. And nothing earns their respect more quickly than by being able to communicate effectively and confidently in the cage. A must for any goalie looking to be more or a “presence” on the defensive end of the field.
In this DVD we cover:
- Calling the position of the ball on the field so that you give your defense the best possible chance to give up low quality shots that you can snuff out easily.
- Why you need to adjust your calls in relation to the shooter AND your defender. They aren’t all the same.
- How to communicate effectively on a fast break. What to call. Who to call. And most importantly, when to call what.
- Why you need to be the quarterback on the field and how it can make your defense unstoppable.
- And much more…
I also get past the basics of calling the position of the ball on the field, and dive into the more advanced calls that most coaches won’t tell you. We’ll disect…
- The “check” call. When to use it. How to use it. And why to use it. This one call can literally double the effectiveness of your defenders (especially those on the crease.)
- The “hold” call. For years I thought the “hold” call would bring more penalties by the refs but it never did. We’ll go over when to use it (it’s not when you think) and how you can help your defenders neutralize attack men driving to the cage.
- The little known “rip” call. Stop making your defenders think the only way they need to play is to try and get the ball on the ground. The “rip” call can mess up shooters as much as a wrap check or a cross check!
- Oh yeah…and much more…
This DVD is great for new goalies as well as experienced goalies who want to take their communication in the cage to the next level.
It’s also vital for coaches who are sick and tired of their goalies and defenders having inconsistent calls in the defensive half of the field. This DVD is a must. Give it to your goalies and defense. Have them grab a pizza and sit them in a classroom to watch this DVD. Click here to order.
